RIGHT TO INFORMATION ACT, 2005

1. In pursuance to the provisions of Right to Information Act, 2005, which came into force w.e.f. 12^th October, 2005 a Public Information Cell has been set up at Southern Railway, Head Quarters, Park Town, Chennai-600 003.   Shri.B.Singaiah, Deputy General Manage(G) has been appointed  as Public Information Officer (PIO), Tel Nos:22541 (Rly.) and 044-25355305 (BSNL) assisted by Shri.B.Nageswara Rao, Assistant PIO, Tel.Nos:22512(Rly) and 044-25352830 (BSNL).

 Any further information required by any person can be obtained from the PIO after payment of prescribed fees which are as follows:

1. for information under Sub-Sec.(1) of Sec.6 Rs.10/-

2. for information under Sub-Sec.(1) of Sec.7.

 (i)  Rs.2/- for each page (A4/A3 Size) created or copied.

      (ii) actual charge or cost price of a copy in larger size paper;

      (iii)actual cost of samples or models;

      (iv) for inspection of records, no fees for first hour and thereafter fee of 

            Rs.5/- for every fifteen minutes or part thereof.

(c)      for information under Sub-Sec (5) of Sec.7

(i)                   Rs.50/- for information on diskette or floppy;

(ii)                 actual price fixed for information provided in printed form or Rs.2/- per page of photo copy for extracts from the publication.

 The fees can be paid by way of cash at Headquarters or Divisional Cash office or at any Railway Station office Booking office.  Alternatively by DD/Bankers cheque/IPO drawn in favour of FA&CAO for HQrs. & Sr.DFM of the respective divisional office.

 Information regarding Material Management, Freight Management, Tenders and other Public Information of Southern Railway has been made available on website www.srailway.com , www.southernrailway.org and www.southernrailway.gov.in

 2. The documents which public authorities are required to publish (under Section 4(1)(b) of the Right to Information Act, 2005) are as follows:

      In pursuance of the provision of the Right to Information Act, 2005 the following officers of Southern Railway have been nominated as Asst.Public Information Officer, Public Information Officer & Appellate Authority in addition to their own duties and responsibilities.  Any changes in the Railway/BSNL Phones, the same may be intimated to this office for effecting necessary changes in the web.
